This policy explains what personal information I collect when you use leedswebsites.com or work with me, why I collect it, who I share it with, and the rights you have over it. I've tried to keep it short and in plain English.
1 Who I am
Leeds Websites is a trading name of Jim McGuire, a sole trader based in Leeds, UK. I'm the "controller" of the personal information described here, which means I decide how it's used and I'm responsible for looking after it.
If you have any questions about this policy or your information, email me at jim@leedswebsites.com.2 What I collect
When you get in touch. If you email me or message me on WhatsApp, I'll receive your name, email address and phone number (if you give it), your business name, your message and how you'd prefer me to contact you.
When you ask for a free first draft. The first draft form asks about your business: what you do, your current website or social media page, the look and feel you're after, and what you'd most like visitors to do. I'll also receive your name, business name, email address and phone number (if you give it).
When you become a client. I keep the details needed to build, host and look after your website, your contact details and a record of our conversations. Payments and subscriptions are handled by Stripe through the billing portal. I can see your name, billing address, subscription status and invoices, but I never see or store your full card number.
When you browse the website. With your consent, Google Analytics collects information about how you use the site, such as the pages you visit, roughly where you are (town or region), the type of device and browser you use, and how you found the site. The site's hosting and security services also process your IP address and basic browser information to deliver pages, keep the site secure and stop spam.3 How I use it, and why I'm allowed to
Data protection law says I need a valid reason (a "legal basis") for each way I use your information:- Replying to your enquiry and preparing your free first draft: taking steps at your request before entering into a contract, and my legitimate interest in responding to people who contact me.
- Building, hosting and maintaining your website, and supporting you: performing our contract.
- Billing, invoices and keeping business accounts: performing our contract, and complying with my legal obligations (for example, HMRC record-keeping).
- Understanding how the website is used so I can improve it: your consent to analytics cookies, which you can withdraw at any time.
- Keeping the website secure and blocking spam: my legitimate interest in protecting the website and my business.
I don't send marketing emails, and I never sell or rent your personal information to anyone.4 Your rights
